Shops
There are three shops in our branch
area. The first to open was at 405 Abergele Road, Old Colwyn (map). It had been thought that with the opening of
the new shop in Colwyn Bay this shop would
close. However, a determined campaign by
the volunteers who man the shop has resulted in a decision to keep it
open. In fact, by working closely with
the other shops it is going from strength to strength. It is open 1000 to 1300 Mon/Wed/Sat and 1000
to 1600 Tue/Thu/Fri.
The second shop is at 146 Prestatyn High
Street (map). The manager works closely with the Old Colwyn
shop so that both shops can achieve their full potential. It is open from 1000 to 1600 Monday to
Saturday.
The newest shop is a joint venture
with the RSPCA Board for Wales and is at 24 Station Road Colwyn Bay (map). It is open from 0930 to 1600 Monday to Friday
and 1000 to 1700 Saturday (during the summer, 0900 to 1600 in winter). Please note that the day-to–day running of
the shop is the responsibility of the RSPCA Board for Wales and we are
effectively excluded from any decisions as to how it is run.
Apart from a manager at Prestatyn
(who is employed by the branch) and a manager and assistant manager at Colwyn
Bay (who are employed by the national society via the regional board) the shops
are entirely staffed by volunteers.
Volunteers to man the shops or
donations of saleable items are always welcome.
