KENNEL COUGH

There have been cases of kennel cough in Rhyl and Prestatyn.  Whilst this disease is not as serious as it once was and is readily treatable it is still highly contagious.  It can also trigger complications that can be more serious.  The main symptoms are a sustained hacking cough and coughing up a white foam.  If you suspect that your dog has this disease DO NOT just turn up at your vet but contact them by telephone to make an appointment at a time when other dogs will be at less risk.  Whilst there is no need to panic, the implications for a sick, elderly dog  or puppy could obviously be slightly more serious.   We are simply trying to stop this disease to prevent lots of dog owners having to pay out for anti-biotics when some simple measures such as avoiding dog to dog contact will help to limit the spread of it.

We have now moved from the Marsh Road clinic (on the left above) to Vaughan Street, Rhyl (on the right above).  As from Monday 3rd November 2008, the clinic hours (when a vet is in attendance) will be 2pm to 3.30pm.  Whilst this is much earlier than at present it will enable the vet to see more animals whilst not interfering with his own surgery.
