Molly collecting at Tescos

Molly collecting at Tescos

The Clwyd and Colwyn branch was formed by the merger of the Vale of Clwyd and Colwyn Bay branches, and like all RSPCA branches although we operate under the RSPCA umbrella we are a separate local charity dealing with animals in need in our area. We do not receive any government or other funds which means that all the money we spend has to be raised locally through our own initiatives.

The Clwyd and Colwyn branch covers an area along the North Wales coast which is bounded by Llandrillo and Llanrwst in the west, Prestatyn in the east and Pentrefoelas, Cerrigydrudion and Ruthin in the south.

We need YOUR help

We are always grateful for donations of items suitable for resale in our shops, and welcome anyone who can volunteer their spare time to help us improve the welfare of animals in the area; this can be in any one of many ways, including becoming a home visitor or even by Becoming a Branch Trustee. We are always in need of your help so please either Contact us or Check the RSPCA HQ Site to find out what you can do to help.

We are also in desperate need of people who can foster animals, especially at short notice. Sometimes we are presented with animals that cannot go to Bryn-Y-Maen. Sending these animals to a kennels or cattery whilst we find someone to take them is not only very expensive but is also dependent on them having space. Whilst you would have to have an inspection by one of our home visitors and be subject to a formal agreement between the branch and yourself, ALL food and veterinary costs would be bourne by the branch. Thus, whilst there is a certain amount of red-tape, you will be directly helping animals at NO cost to yourself, AND saving the branch money so that we can help more animals.

Apart from a manager at Prestatyn (who is employed by the branch), along with a manager and assistant manager at Colwyn Bay (who are employed by the national society via the regional board) our three shops in the area are entirely staffed by volunteers. With this in mind we always welcome anyone who can spare even a few hours a week to help keep them running to their full potential, providing us with a vital source of funds for both new and ongoing projects and initiatives we aim to provide. Please note that as the shop at 24 Station Road is a joint venture with the RSPCA Board for Wales, day-to-day running of the shop is the responsibility of the RSPCA Board for Wales and we are effectively excluded from any decisions as to how it is run.
